Fix the access problem, or just bring the board down

The web access has been impossible for days now. A recurring problem that is destroying this board.

A huge amount of useful information and knowledgeable resources that are being held hostage to incompetent services. What a loss. If you can't fix it, best to just put it out of its misery. This board has been a huge service to me, and I HATE seeing it being destroyed like this.

The solution = money.

The problem is a server/host that operates using stone aged technology(on the better days).

This board does not see enough traffic to generate advertisement based revenue.

Short of a major capitol donation from a generous and benevolent soul, i would speculate that the writing is on the wall.

It's been a good run. I've met some very special people thanks to this board, and i will be forever indebted for the data and knowledge that's been imparted to me here over the years.

But, my own personal reality is that at the end of this month my household will say goodbye to cable TV, at least one cell fone, a health insurance policy, and see a whole lotta stuff sold over the next year.It's been a good run. Offer the forum for inclusion into the Lansing Heritage Forum. They already cover Altec.

That sounds like a reasonable approach. Anything that could fix this should be considered.

Every page I want to see here requires multiple reloads - request the page, open another tab and browse other stuff, go back to a timed out HostBoard, repeat several times.

What newcomer is going to bother with that? Even most browsing audiophiles won't bother. You have to be pretty darn motivated to get past the technical roadblocks that are in place to reach this excellent content. Even the knowledgeable contributors have to be visiting a lot less frequently.

Have you got a better practical idea, given nothing has happened over several years to improve the sorry state this forum is in??

The site is not dead and we will not let that happen. We are either going to buy hostboard outright or we are moving to a new server. I would like to apologize to everyone for not being here enough, to be on top of these issues.I have been dealing with some health issues.We don't have enough money at the moment to buy Hostboard so Todd will be along shortly to make an announcement.
